Latin name - Gonepteryx rhamni

Flight period – Early July to October/November, then they hibernate as adults and re-appear in Spring. Individuals may live for up to a year therefore.

Wingspan – 6 to 7 cm, 2.3 to 2.75 inch.

Description - The wings of the female are very pale green, almost white, males have yellow-green underwings and yellow upperwings. When this butterfly roosts among foliage, the angular shape and the strong veining of their wings closely resembles leaves. They always rest with their wings closed.
